Ten Thousand Villages Canada and Habitat for Humanity Canada Join Forces in Year-Long Partnership

April
13, 2011, Penticton, BC. Ten
Thousand Villages Canada and Habitat for Humanity Canada
have joined forces in a 2011 fundraising and awareness
campaign. Through a series of in-store events and
on-line promotions the two non-profit organizations, closely
aligned by their missions and strong volunteer bases, will
work to raise support for the human right to decent,
affordable housing and for Fair Trade relationships around
the world.
“We are very excited to embark on this new partnership with Ten Thousand Villages,” says Nicole Hrinco, National Manager of Corporate Partnerships at Habitat for Humanity Canada. “Like us, they support families abroad living in need, and share the desire to improve the quality of life in communities here in Canada.”
The
partnership began on March 14th with the very successful
Everybody Needs a Home campaign, in which ten dollars
from the sale of each Habitat promotion birdhouse was
donated to Habitat for Humanity Canada.
The partnership culminates in the fall with the Home Is Where the Heart is campaign. One dollar from the sale of each special edition “Home/Maison” stone will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Canada. Skillfully crafted by Indian artisans, these palm-sized, heart-shaped stones make wonderful reminders of the importance of house and home, and of Fair Trade.
